Our solvent free resi-METAL pigments were especially developed to be combined with our range of polymer art resins to create beautiful resin artwork

The tints can be used to colour most polymer resin systems used within the arts, crafts, flooring and coating industries. We have a selection of 5 colours that are quick & easy to use. The metallic colour is locked in once the resin system has cured.

The recommended addition amount is 2%-5% by weight (between 2 - 5 parts per 100). Even a tiny addition rate will transform clear resins into shimmering metallic colours without interrupting or altering the resin’s curing cycle or cured properties. They have a much improved resistance to fading compared to conventional metal flakes and powders, as well as excellent storage stability and water-resistance.

resi-METAL pigments are solvent free and disperse uniformly & rapidly into clear unfilled epoxy, polyester and polyurethane resins, varnishes, gel coats, paints or sealers. The range of colours was carefully selected for colour fastness, blend rate, opacity, heat stability and having the minimum effect on the setting characteristics of the final resin system.

Application

The recommended addition amount to resin is 2%-5% by weight (between 2 - 5 parts resi-METAL per 100 parts resin). Add to the resin mix as required.

Finally had the pleasure of trying MasterCast and resi-Metal (Blue Steel... so gorgeous!!) Loved the thicker viscosity of this resin.

So, I have been playing with Resi-Metal aluminium oxide today. I mixed with Master Cast 121 resin. I found it gave a pleasing silver shimmer and glittery feel to my artwork and creates a lovely feeling of depth. The tub is going to last a mighty long time as only a dot is needed and mixes very well. I still struggle ~ with trying to find a shiny, mirror like metallic component though. Spray paint on top of the resin gives the desired shine but is not controllable and the aerosol seems to put a dull mist layer across the piece. My favourite Resi-Metal is the blue one. Now that one is beautiful!

Just a little review of the NEW MasterCast 1-2-1 formulation. The first to note is that the hardener in the kit has lost pretty much all of its yellow tinge & is almost as colourless as the resin component. Next thing, and for me this is a biggie...the strong odour of the hardener has practically disappeared. This is a massive improvement in terms of working with strong fumes etc. When mixed the inevitable air bubbles become apparent but when the resin is poured all of these pretty much disappear. To me this is a boon as it means that torching (and thus heating) the resin is kept to a minimum at this stage, enabling the artist to utilise heat to manipulate it and be as creative as they wish without the resin being over cooked!! Working time is unaffected in this new formulation which is another positive. Both the clarity & overall gloss finish of this MasterCast resin are outstanding. It also has a reasonably fast curing time so I was able to handle the piece much earlier than other resins I have tried. The gold in this piece is done with ResiMetal Gold Lustre. You can't quite tell from the photos but it is luscious and even with a clear resin topcoat you feel that you can reach out & pick it out of the painting! � I am desperate to try the blue ResiMetal next!
